Knoxy & Kax Show

“The Knoxy and Kax Show” will run for 10 weeks, starting the week of January 24th

TORONTO, ON – January 24, 2022 – SDPN and the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) today announced a joint production of a new women’s hockey podcast titled The Knoxy and Kax Show. Hosted by Liz Knox and Karell Emard, the show will shine a spotlight on the big stories and personalities within the game— a far-too-often overlooked point of view.

The Knoxy and Kax Show will run for 10 weeks, starting the week of January 24th, with 16-20 episodes anticipated over that time. Audiences can expect the biggest names in the game, telling stories never heard before, in a laid-back and fun atmosphere. The show will be available on all major podcast platforms.

“We were always amazed and slightly perplexed that the fun side of women’s hockey, the side that we knew from having conversations with various players and organizers over the years, were rarely shared on traditional media,” said Adam Wylde, CEO & Head of Partnerships at SDPN.” Our partners at the PWHPA jumped on board with the idea immediately and we want to thank them for their support, commitment and vision.  Knoxy and Kax are a blast to be around— we’re thrilled for you to get to know them and we can’t wait to see where they take this.”

The podcast will be a relaxed, in-depth and boisterous look at the lives of the best hockey talent in the world. As the Beijing games quickly approach, Knoxy and Kax will also provide commentary on the tournament lead-up, the games themselves, as well as the upcoming PWHPA showcases.

“We were thrilled when SDPN approached the PWHPA with such an incredible, and fun, opportunity,” said PWHPA Operations Consultant Jayna Hefford. “People within women’s hockey don’t often have a chance to show their personalities to a large audience, and this podcast provides a great platform to Liz, Karell and others within our game to really shine off the ice. I’m really excited for fans to have the chance to peek behind the curtain like never before.”

The fight for equality and the challenges that the players face in order to play the game they love are often the focus of women’s hockey stories; while those aspects are certainly part of the game, The Knoxy and Kax Show will showcase an even bigger part of what the game is— big talent, big personalities and storytelling that will make audiences feel like they’re casually sitting around the table with their friends Knoxy, Kax, and their guests.

It’s women’s hockey, told by women’s hockey players.

Liz Knox Bio:

Liz Knox is a retired professional hockey player and founding member of the PWHPA (Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association). She spent most of her pro career as a goalie with the Thunder in the defunct CWHL. When she wasn’t getting lit up by household names like Marie-Philip Poulin and Hilary Knight, Knoxy was well-known for locker room presence and bench swag. Her passion for the game has led her to tell the behind-the-scenes women’s hockey stories that you’ve never heard before!

Karell Emard Bio:

Karell Emard is a professional hockey player and a board member of the PWHPA (Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association). Karell— also known as Kax— is well known for her dynamic personality and high energy, on and off the ice. She spent most of her career playing as a forward and hopping on D when needed. People might also argue that she spent more time in the penalty box than on the ice, but that is still to be confirmed. She absolutely loves the game and hopes to give listeners an inside ear to the world of women’s hockey.
